PYEC runs the school attendance strategy in the APY Lands - Nganampa Education Tjitji Tjutaku (NETT) Kunpuntjaku.

This strategy is Anangu owned and it runs across the APY Lands.

 

PYEC was contracted by NIAA to deliver the Remote School Attendance Strategy for Anangu Schools in the APY Lands. PYEC has named its school attendance program “Nganamgpa Education Tjitji Tjutaku Kunpuntjaku”

The contract commenced in May 2019 and requires PYEC to follow the Operational Framework 2019 developed by the Australian Government.

The Operational Framework establishes 6 Mandatory steps to follow:

STEP 1 - Local Employment

STEP 2 - Governance Committee

STEP 3 - Community Mapping

STEP 4 - Community Attendance Plans

STEP 5 - Development of Local Staff

STEP 6 - Daily Attendance Activities.

There are 18 Daily Attendance Activities that can be included in a communities action plan:

  • Specialist staff

  • Community and Youth Summits

  • Community Events

  • Breakfast and Lunch Programs

  • Culture and Language Projects

  • In School Support (on a short term basis)

  • Rewards and Recognition Projects

  • Mentoring

  • Communications

  • Family Engagement

  • Transition Support

  • Mobility Strategy

  • Youth Engagement

  • Targeted Girls and/or Boys Programs

  • Boarding School Support

  • Early Childhood

  • Enrolment Strategy

  • Locally Designed Initiatives
